Extended Brake Cables

Print Instructions

You may be looking to add some longer brake lines to your custom bagger if you've recently added a set of custom handlebars. This tutorial will outline the basic steps for replacing the front brake lines on your Road King, Electra Glide, Street Glide, Road Glide, or Ultra Classic.

We will be using a chrome brake line for dual disc brakes from Bad Dad for this tutorial.

Note:Brake fluid is highly corrosive and can damage paint and chrome. Please cover any surfaces which you want to protect from brake fluid.

1) If your bike has ABS brakes, remove the outer fairing and disconnect the ABS sensor.
2) Then disconnect the fittings from both brake calipers, and then remove the junction block underneath the triple trees.
3) Now disconnect the fittings from the ABS block which is behind the right side cover. Note: these fittings will leak brake fluid when removed. Be prepared to protect any painted surfaces with a rag or other covering.
4) With the brake line disconnected at the calipers and the ABS block, you can now remove the brake lines from the motorcycle.
5) Begin installing the brake lines by attaching the brake fittings on the front brake calipers. Then attach the new junction block to the underside of the triple trees.
6) Run the new brake line down the backbone of the motorcycle's frame and connect the fittings at the ABS block.
7) Finally, pass the brake line through the inner fairing and attach the fitting at the brake master cylinder.
