Why Change the Factory Floorboards?
Floorboards can sometimes get overlooked during a custom build because they don't change the motorcycle's overall silhouette like stretched saddlebags, a rear fender, or a custom tank.
But they're positioned directly between many of those larger modifications.
On a Touring model, for example, the floorboards sit below the engine and alongside the exhaust, brake pedal, shift controls, and lower frame. Replacing the factory boards can help carry a custom design theme through the center of the motorcycle instead of leaving the stock foot controls surrounded by otherwise customized parts.
They're also one of the components the rider interacts with constantly. Unlike a purely cosmetic accessory, your floorboards support your feet whenever you're riding.

What Are the 992 Floorboards?
The 992 Front Floorboards are a pair of replacement driver floorboards designed for Harley-Davidson Touring and Softail motorcycles.
Each floorboard is CNC machined from 6061 billet aluminum and measures:
- 16-9/16" long
- 5-1/4" wide at the widest point
- 1/2" thick billet aluminum
A custom-cut rubber insert is recessed into the machined design to provide a comfortable, non-metal contact surface for your boots while preserving the appearance of the billet board.
The result is a floorboard that changes an area of the motorcycle you both see and use every time you ride.

CNC-Machined 6061 Billet Aluminum
The 992 Floorboards are machined from 6061 billet aluminum rather than being a cosmetic cover installed over the original floorboard.
The 1/2"-thick billet construction gives the board its actual shape, with the 992 design machined directly into the part. A rubber insert is then cut to follow that design and provide the riding surface.
This allows the machined aluminum and rubber to work together visually rather than simply placing a rubber pad over a custom board.
Gloss Black or Chrome?
The 992 Floorboards are available in two finishes:
Gloss Black Powdercoat
A good choice for motorcycles using black engines, exhaust, wheels, controls, or other blacked-out components.
Chrome
Better suited for motorcycles retaining chrome engine components, exhaust, forks, controls, or other polished details.
There isn't a functional difference between the two options—the choice is primarily about matching the other finishes already used throughout your motorcycle.

The 992 Front Floorboards fit:
- 1997-current Harley-Davidson Touring models
- 2000-current Harley-Davidson Softail models
Touring applications include motorcycles such as the Street Glide, Road Glide, Road King, and Electra Glide. The boards are designed as a direct replacement and include the appropriate mounting hardware for the application.
That means installing the front boards does not require cutting or permanently modifying the motorcycle.

The 992 Front Floorboards are the rider or driver boards.

Building a Complete Matching Foot-Control Setup
You don't have to replace every foot-control component at once.
The 992 Front Floorboards can be installed by themselves and later matched with other components as the build progresses.
